The Lada Sport Rosneft factory team presented the final modification of the Niva racing car to date before the “Sands of Archeda” Baja of the Russian rally-raid championship in the Volgograd region.

This car received a new engine: the Lada Niva Sport T2 is powered by a 1.8-liter 16-valve engine producing 150 hp.

The previous version of the Niva was equipped with a 1.6-liter engine.

Also, the modified SUV demonstrates a more suitable layout of the engine compartment. He also got a modernized exhaust.

The place of foreign Ohlins shock absorbers was taken by domestic Spectrum.

As a result, the weight of the racing SUV was reduced by 6%. Thanks to this, specific power has increased, dynamics and cross-country ability have improved.

Plus, the racing Niva now has more efficient brakes.

Technical changes are minimal, since the requirements of the T2 class regulations prohibit serious interference with the design of the base car.

Externally, the current version is almost no different from the previous modification. Unless the new body kit helped improve geometric cross-country ability.

By the end of the year, the updated Lada Niva Sport T2 will compete in two races of the Russian rally-raid championship and cup. And next year the “Silk Road” awaits Niva.

It is interesting that some of the solutions that we will see on the racing SUV are promised to be transferred to the production Lada Niva Sport. Assembly of such an SUV will begin in 2024.

According to preliminary information, the start of sales of the new modification of the Lada Niva Sport will begin in September 2024, while it was previously assumed that the new product will go into production in the summer of 2023.

When will sales start? It is expected that the modernized Lada Niva Sport will arrive at official dealers in September 2024.
