Tank 500 in a nutshell: status and progress.

I would like to apply the term “heroic” to the Chinese SUV TANK 500.

Surely the model’s ambassador in Russia, the brutal showman Dmitry Nagiyev, would agree with this term.

It’s not just uncompromising power. In the spirit of our times, the car combines technology and the comfort of an urban crossover for every day.

The SUV is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 six-cylinder petrol engine with combined fuel injection and twin turbocharging, which allows it to develop a power of 299 hp. and provides a torque of 500 Nm.

The engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The manufacturer regulates filling at no lower than 95 AI.

The GW6Z30 power plant is a full-fledged development of China, produced at the Hycet plant, and has been used on the market since 2021.

Manufacturers created the engine based on the best European developments.

The result was our own motor with advanced technologies, achieving the best thermal efficiency and high power density.

Compared to its analogues, it also consumes slightly less fuel. This is an ultra-modern engine; such engines are capable of running up to 250,000 km with proper maintenance.

With such data as a ground clearance of 224 mm, an approach angle of 29.5°, and a departure angle of 24.0°, the car will perform excellently on rough off-road conditions.

It will be limited only by the desire of the owner himself, how seriously he wants to exploit it and what areas of complexity he wants to force.

For extreme off-road use there is a mild hybrid system. The starter-generator allows you to start the engine and at the lowest speeds is capable of adding up to 50 Nm of torque.

Manufacturers confidently declare that their creation is capable of fording a ford up to 80 cm deep, especially with tires measuring 265/55 R19. Excellent ventilation of the engine compartment also helps on rough terrain.

An advanced intelligent all-wheel drive is used, which switches automatically.

The front clutch is capable of transferring from 3-46% of torque to the rear axle depending on road conditions.

It is possible to have a rigid mechanical locking of this coupling. There are front and rear differential locks. Components from EATON are responsible for them.

Exterior

The Chinese TANK 500 has an impressive appearance. In terms of dimensions: reaches 4.8 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width and height. A full-size alloy spare wheel is hidden with a mount under the boot floor.

The front features a massive radiator grille with an emblem. The image is complemented by LED headlights; from the rear, the car is easily recognizable by the vertical lights and chrome trim on the rear door.

By the way, the tailgate opens to the side and has a closer in the top-end configuration. Overall, the hood and doors close smoothly. The footrests can withstand more than 200 kg, and in the maximum configuration they come with an electric drive.

The design of the TANK 500 is slightly different from other cars made in the Middle Kingdom.

Body elements are simple in shape, with a large number of straight lines. There is no newfangled plastic body extension.

At the rear there is minimalism, a laconic spoiler; Even with the dual-flow exhaust system, not a single tailpipe is visible.

We can say that the external structure turned out to be classic and strict. The body itself is made of high-strength steel, all body elements are galvanized.

According to the classics and color palette, there is a choice of body shade from four options.

The optics are all LED, they shine pleasantly, the high beam is correctly adjusted, there is a cornering light function, a light and rain sensor, and fog lights.

The optics are not only powerful. The intelligent system automatically switches the operating mode from high beam to low beam, reacting to the approaching headlights of oncoming traffic.

Such classic body shapes, combined with high-quality LED lighting equipment, look simply gorgeous at night.

Salon

The interior corresponds to the status of a premium car, every little detail is taken into account. The Premium trim features Alcantara and original Nappa leather in three color options.

Three-zone climate control and an air quality control system with a fine particle filter are responsible for the microclimate in the cabin and air purity.

The panoramic roof fits perfectly into the surroundings, and background lighting completes the creation of a comfortable atmosphere. Many users note that the premium silence in the cabin goes well with the high-quality Infinity sound system.

Of course, the highlight of the interior is the 14.6-inch multimedia system, 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and head-up display.

TANK 500 in Russia is presented in two trim levels: Adventure and Premium. As we have seen, both in terms of safety and comfort, both trim levels provide a decent set of equipment.
