New Toyota Tacoma 2024: hybrid installation and an abundance of various modifications.

The premiere of the Toyota Tacoma 2024 pickup truck of the new (fourth) generation took place in the United States. A team of specialists from the California design studio Caltry worked on the exterior of the model.

They made a truck in the style called «Badass Adventure Machine», which can be translated from English as «daring adventure machine».

Appearance and interior

The car in the new body looks very formidable, especially from the front: it has a powerful bumper, a hexagonal grille and relatively small headlights.

In the US market, the model will be offered with two cab options: a single-row XtraCab and a full-fledged double-row Double Cab.

By the way, the first of them is available for cars in basic configurations, with a cargo platform 1.8 meters long.

The XtraCab variant replaced the one-and-a-half Access Cab, which still had rear seats, but they were very cramped, so almost no one used them.

The Japanese abandoned the inferior second row, but they equipped a small luggage area in the cockpit.

There are no rear doors on the XtraCab either, so this compartment is accessed by folding the front seats.

As for machines with a Double Cab, they can have a cargo platform with a length of 1.5 or 1.8 m.

And they also have three times the amount of luggage space under the folding rear seat cushion.

The interior of the new Toyota Tacoma 2024 is designed in a restrained style. It is characterized by an abundance of brutal rectangular shapes, massive levers and numerous analog buttons.

By the way, in the base of the pickup even has an analog tidy, which is not so common in the modern auto industry.

However, in its combination between the large dials, a 7.0-inch screen still wormed its way. But the older versions (or for a surcharge) have a digital shield with a diagonal of 12.3″.

Multimedia can have an 8.0 or 14.0″ touchscreen, and the JBL audio system is equipped with a removable speaker.

It is located on the top of the front panel and has a battery, so if you wish, you can take it with you on a conditional picnic.

Specifications

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma still has a steel frame structure in a new body, but the car is now based on the modern TNGA-F “trolley”, familiar from the Land Cruiser 300 and Sequoia SUVs, as well as the Tundra pickup truck.

There are a lot of aluminum components in the design of the truck. For example, the tailgate of the cargo area is made of «winged metal».

With the change of generation, the model received an electric power steering instead of a hydraulic one.

The developers also declare an increase in the volume of the cargo area by 7%. For the first time, an electric tailgate can be ordered.

The Toyota Tacoma 2024 powertrain line is completely new and consists exclusively of turbo engines.

The base pickup relies on a 2.4-liter «turbo» i-Force. On the most affordable machines (SR and SR5 configurations), it produces 231 hp. (329 Nm).

On older versions, the motor is somewhat more powerful, and its return directly depends on the choice of gearbox.

So, in conjunction with the iMT2 six-speed mechanics, performance is declared at the level of 274 forces (420 Nm), and with an eight-speed automatic — according to the data sheet, 282 «mares» (430 Nm).

Note that the manual transmission of the pickup truck has a clutch servo, designed to help when starting off. Plus, the box has a system for automatically adjusting the crankshaft speed when switching.

And now there is also a hybrid in the range (for the first time in the history of the model). He put the power plant i-Force Max, which includes the same 2.4-liter turbo engine.

He is accompanied by a 49-horsepower electric motor built into an eight-speed automatic.

The peak output of the units is 331 forces and 630 Nm of torque. The hybrid itself is non-rechargeable — it is supposed to have a modest nickel-hydride traction battery with a capacity of 1.87 kWh.

At the same time, a household outlet for connecting external consumers is here with a power of 2,400 watts (for conventional versions — only 400 watts).

In the base, the new Toyota Tacoma 2024 has a rear-wheel drive with a self-locking differential.

For a surcharge, they will offer all-wheel drive with a hard connection of the front axle, a reduction gear and a self-blocking rear.

Price.

The release of fourth-generation Tacoma pickups will be launched in Mexico, and at two factories at once, where third-generation cars are still being assembled. In the US market, car sales will start in the fall of the twenty-third.

At first, only petrol cars will be presented at dealers, and hybrids will appear in the twenty-fourth. There is no information on prices yet, but the novelty will definitely be more expensive than its predecessor — from $28,000.
