Chery Omoda S5 GT 2023.

The new Chery Omoda S5 GT 2023 sedan for 3 million received a derated engine.

Earlier, sales of the Omoda S5 sedan started, and at the beginning of September twenty-third, a “warmed up” version of the model with the GT prefix in the name reached our market.

The cost of such a car was almost 3 million rubles.

Let us recall that the Omoda S5 GT initially debuted in China in 2022, however, in the home market this four-door is known as the “Chery Arrizo 5 GT”.

The “lighter” is easily distinguished from the regular version by a different design of the front part of the body.

Design and interior

The car received a larger radiator grille, abundant black decor in the exterior design, as well as a modified bumper, hood and headlights.

The modification also includes black wheels with orange brake calipers, and the rear features four fake exhaust pipes and a different bumper trim.

Surprisingly, the interior of the new Omoda S5 GT is seriously different from the interior of a regular sedan.

There is a completely different front panel with two 10.25-inch screens arranged into a single unit without a visor.

The left one, as usual, is responsible for displaying the virtual instrument cluster, and the right one is used for multimedia needs.

There is also a different steering wheel and front seats, a non-locking transmission lever on the dashboard, and the climate control unit is fully touch-sensitive.

The interior of the model is decorated with red accents (even the belts are made red), plus sound insulation has been improved. By the way, the thickness of the glass was increased to 4 mm.

Specifications

In terms of technology, the “Russian” Omoda S5 GT 2023 is offered with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine, working in conjunction with a seven-speed robot with two “wet” clutches.

On the original Arrizo 5 GT in China, this unit produces 197 hp, but in the Russian Federation they decided to deboost it to a tax-efficient 150 hp.

Thus, in terms of power, the “warmed up” version of the sedan turned out to be only slightly more productive than the regular S5 sedan, which in the top configuration has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 147 horsepower and a CVT.

However, the torque on the GT is still noticeably higher — 275 Nm versus 210 Nm.

As a result, the acceleration time from zero to hundreds on the Omoda S5 GT is 7.5 seconds (2.2 seconds faster than the standard four-door), but the maximum speed is the same 190 kilometers per hour.

As for the chassis, stiffer springs and other shock absorbers are announced for the new product, but the rear still has the usual “beams”, the ground clearance (clearance) is 160 millimeters.

Options and prices

The price of the new Omoda S5 GT 2023 in Russia starts from 2,839,900 rubles for a car in the Neo configuration, and for a sedan in the top-end Ultra version they ask for 2,939,900 rubles.

For comparison, a regular sedan with a 1.5 turbo engine in the expensive Ultra version is 310,000 rubles cheaper.

In terms of equipment, the car’s base includes four airbags, ABS and ESP, light and rain sensors, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, sunroof, standard multimedia with a rear view camera and parking sensors all around, front seats with heating, ventilation and electric drive.

When choosing the Ultra version, buyers will additionally receive curtain airbags, a built-in video recorder, expanded interior lighting, all-round cameras, and a set of electronic driver assistants.
