Polestar continues to expand its lineup.

The first crossover of the brand will be Polestar 3 2023.

It will have a slight resemblance to the next-generation Volvo XC90, but Polestar will equip its parkette with a special powertrain.

Representatives of the company said that all-electric car will debut in October this year.

The brand is confident that the launch of the Polestar 3 will have a positive impact on the company’s financial situation due to the fact that the crossover segment is now one of the most popular.

The CEO of the brand said that the future parkettes will be produced in China and the United States.

The market of SUV segment is one of the most profitable at the moment.

The brand’s representative is confident that the car will gain popularity immediately due to the electric powertrain and will allow the company to start growing even more actively.

We think that after Polestar 3, the Swedish brand will start developing even more advanced technologies that will be added to the same new models.

So far, not much is known about the crossover, but there have been reports that there will be variants with one or two engines.

That means we’ll see all-wheel drive. It can be considered a more modern, sporty and luxurious version of the Volvo XC90.

Although the models will have the same platform, but Polestar has a huge advantage through the use of electric engines, which we have not yet seen in any car.

The company now has a strong growth in sales, in fact, in the first four months of this year the brand has sold more than 13,500 cars.

This is almost twice as much as during the same period last year. Polestar also plans to enter car markets in new countries.

Polestar, the electric sports brand that broke away from Volvo in 2017, continues to slowly unveil its third model, the Polestar 3 large coupe-like crossover, which will have its full premiere in October this year and will begin production in the first quarter of 2023.

Polestar grew out of the racing team of the same name, which later became the Volvo Cars tuning studio.

С oday Polestar, together with Volvo, is part of the Chinese holding company Geely, but Polestar has been given quite a lot of autonomy (up to the possibility to develop its own platform): the company, in fact, works in startup mode and wants to hold an IPO on the Nasdaq exchange this year to attract additional investment.

As an independent manufacturer, Polestar has been rocking for a long time, introducing only two production models since 2017, and one of them, the plug-in hybrid coupe Polestar 1, has already been discontinued.

Now the Swedish brand produces only Polestar 2 cross-liftback in several modifications, last year it sold only 29 thousand electric cars in the world, but by the end of 2025 wants to reach the level of 290 thousand cars a year.

The main markets are Europe, the U.S. and China. The tenfold increase in production and sales should be due to the expansion of the model range, the nearest novelty should be a large coupe-shaped crossover Polestar 3 level Porsche Cayenne Coupe and BMW X6.

We would remind you that Polestar is positioning itself as a manufacturer of premium electric cars with an emphasis on sports and maximum environmental friendliness, the main reference point on the market for the Swedish brand is the company Porsche, so we can expect from the Polestar 3 very decent dynamic characteristics.

The Polestar 3 is based on the Volvo modular platform SPA2, it will also receive a future Volvo large three-row electric crossover — it is not a replacement for the XC90, but a separate model.

Today’s press release says that at the start of sales Polestar 3 will be offered with a two-engine power plant (one motor on each axle) and will be able to travel about 600 km on a single charge.

A full autopilot with lidar from Luminar is also announced, but its commercial release date has not yet been announced.

Polestar 3 will be produced in the U.S. and China: the American site is located in Ridgeville (South Carolina), the Chinese — in Chengdu.

Polestar 2, by the way, is assembled in Belgian Ghent and Chinese Luqiao.

In 2023, the mid-size crossover Polestar 4 is expected to premiere.

In 2024, Polestar will present the flagship sedan Polestar 5, which will compete with the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S, and this model will already have its own aluminum platform, which is being developed in the British branch of Polestar.

After the launch of Polestar 5, the production version of the conceptual coupe-cabriolet Polestar O2, presented in March of this year, can be added to the model line.
