Japanese premium brand Lexus continues to introduce us to its future flagship sports model, which is still known as the Electrified Sport concept: the novelty will get a wired steering mechanism and brakes, while reproducing the sensations of driving a classic gasoline supercar as accurately as possible — there will be a roaring engine, manual quasi-gear shift, clutch pedal and even the ability to stall!

The Lexus Electrified Sport was announced last December along with a slew of other Toyota concepts, foreshadowing future production novelties.

Since then, the press service of Lexus portioned us new details about the upcoming flagship sports car — it seems that it will be sensational in many ways.

A fresh dose of information from the project’s chief engineer Takashi Watanabe sounds very intriguing.

It turns out that Lexus Electrified Sport will impress its future owners not only by hurricane dynamics (acceleration to 100 km/h will take about 2 seconds) and the classic proportions with elongated hood, but also the ultimate proximity in terms of driving sensations to gasoline supercars.

Toyota has given the go-ahead to implement the craziest ideas of the Lexus creative team: in particular, some sort of manual transmission emulator is promised, which will have a classic shift lever, clutch pedal and a detailed soundtrack, imitating the gasoline engine and mechanical clanking when changing gears.

There will be no break in power flow like in one-off electromods like Ford Mustang Lithium and Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD equipped with real MCP, but there will be imitation of this break and even a sharp power delivery in case of careless handling of the clutch, due to which you can stall, but not literally of course, but at the level of sensations.

Emulator transmission is already being tested and adjusted on the electric crossover Lexus UX 300e, but it is designed exclusively for the future supercar.

It is also known that the production Electrified Sport (commercial name probably will be different) will receive a unique, unrelated to other road models of Toyota and Lexus platform, carbon fiber body and racing suspension settings, promising extremely accurate and sharp handling.

At the same time, the steering wheel will not have a mechanical connection with the front wheels, that is, it will be implemented wired control, as in the serial crossover Lexus RZ.

What’s more, the brakes will also be wired, which has never been done before on the Toyota and Lexus production road models.

Details about power plant Lexus Electrified Sport are still scarce: it is known that power will be transmitted to all four wheels, but the number of motors and output is not disclosed yet.

We also do not know the date of the premiere of the production version of the model, but it is expected that the supercar will enter the market in the current decade and is likely to receive a revolutionary solid-state battery, which will provide an impressive range on a single charge.
